Who's my daddy?

Many asset tracking systems allow for parent child relationships. Traverse allows for many generations of such relationships and lets you set up rules so that assets can only be moved to compatible assets.

Stated another way, the example of a file tracking system lends itself to this illustration.

Adding asset relationships defines the rules as to which asset types can be contained within other asset types. In the case below A storage box can contain smaller storage boxes and gussets. Gussets on the other hand can be contained by boxes and file cabinets and can contain file folders.

A typical file room may contain rows and rows of file cabinets. Each cabinet may have different types of drawers. Each drawer may contain gussets or Pendaflex folders, and each gusset may contain several files. Axillary storage may contain boxes of all sizes which may contain gussets and files. Boxes may be customer owned or departmentally owned.



Setting up the asset relationships properly can prevent mistakes like moving a file cabinet into another file cabinet or into a box.
